Midterm Oral (October 28 and November 1)

Contents:
You'll answer various questions using some of the grammatical structures that you have learned:

1. ～たいです
You will be asked one of the following questions.
a.「今日ばんごはんになにが食べたいですか。」
b.「今日家でなにがしたいですか。」
c.「日よう日になにがしたいですか。」
d.「どこにりょこうに行きたいですか。」

2. ～たがっています
You will be shown a picture and asked to tell me what Yamada-san seems to want to do.
Here are all the pictures I'll use. You will be shown only one of them.

-Example exchange:
ヒューズ先生「山田さんはなにをしたがっていますか。」
学生「山田さんはしんぶんを読みたがっています。」

3. Potential
You will be asked one of the following questions:
a.「なにごが話せますか。」
b.「ちゅうごくごが話せますか」(*It may be a different language; かんこくご, えいご, etc..）
c.「ケーキが作れますか。」(*It may be a different kind of food.）
d.「テニスができますか。」(*It may be a different sport.)

4. Verb なります
This is the question that I will ask you:
「なにがじょうずになりたいですか。」(What do you want to be good at?)

5. Progressive ～ています
You will be asked to describe a picture.
Here are all the pictures I'll use. You will be shown only one of them.

-Example exchange:
ヒューズ先生「田中さんはなにをしていますか。」
学生「田中さんはたばこをすっています。」

6. Habitual ～ています
You will be asked one of the following questions:
a. 「毎日日本ごをべんきょうしていますか。」
b. 「毎日おんがくをきいていますか。」
c. 「毎日うんどうをしていますか。」
d. 「毎日朝ごはんを食べていますか。」

7. Weather
You will be asked to describe the weather indicated in the chart.
-Example exchange:
ヒューズ先生「あしたのロンドンの天気はどうですか。」
学生「あしたのロンドンはくもりのち雨でしょう。」

Note:
-I will not make any correction to your answer. Therefore, proceeding to a next question does not mean that you have given me a satisfactory response.
-If you take too much time to answer a question, I may skip and move on to the next question.
-Feel free to ask 「もういちどいってください。」 if you want me to repeat my question.
-Your session will be evaluated in terms of fluency and grammatical accuracy.
-Your oral results will make up the 30% of your midterm grade.
